Tire World Auto Centers has been an authorized inspection station for many years. We staff certified auto inspectors and conduct these inspections for customers living in Frederick, MD, Middletown, MD, Walkersville, MD, Mt. Airy, MD, New Market, MD, and the surrounding areas.
How do I know if my vehicle requires a state inspection? When a vehicle changes ownership, then an auto inspection is required. You are also required to have your vehicle inspected when you move to the State of Maryland.
What is performed during an auto inspection? MD has one of the most comprehensive inspections in the nation. Some of the parts and systems included in the inspection are the steering system, wheel alignment, brake system, wheels and tires, fuel system, windshield, exhaust system, bumpers, motor mounts, fendors, lights, electrical system, mirrors, glazing, wipers, hood / catches, gear shift indicator, suspension, wipers, door handles, floor / trunk pans, speedometer / odometer, driver seat, seat belts, universal and CV joints, and emissions equipment. See MVA inspection vehicle parts and systems list for additional details. To sum up, every element of your vehicle should be functioning properly. You will receive a detailed report from the certified inspector with the results.
What should I do if some of the items on my vehicle do not pass inspection? An inspection certificate cannot be issued even if just one item fails to meet a state standard. The item(s) must be addressed and repaired and then re-inspected by the same registered inspection mechanic at the same station. The inspection station will only need to re-inspect the defective piece identified during the original inspection if it is re-inspected within 30 days of the original inspection date and you have driven less than 1,000 miles. If any other defect is found during the re-inspection, it will need to be repaired and re-inspected again.
Will I need to pay for a re-inspection after I paid for the original inspection? If the original state inspection and any needed repairs to defected items are performed at Tire World Auto Centers, there is no charge for a re-inspection. If the repair to a defective item(s) are performed by yourself or another repair shop, there will be a charge for a re-inspection of items that do not fall under a simple "visual" inspection. Please call Tire World Auto Centers for additional information.
How do I obtain a Maryland State Inspection Certificate for my vehicle? Please review the MVA guidelines.
