You’re driving down the road and all of a sudden you notice something is a little off. Your vehicle starts to shimmy and shake, it’s a little harder to steer, and there is a slight up and down motion of your vehicle. Pull over! You have a flat tire.
Eventually, most of us will experience a flat tire. Here at Tire World Auto Centers, we want to make sure you know what to do when it happens. The first and most vital step to take when you notice a flat tire is to stop!
Driving on a flat tire can damage your wheels. They are not designed to take the weight of a vehicle. Without the support of tires, you risk serious damage to your vehicle and possibly yourself. So if you notice a flat tire don’t drive any longer than you have to, just get off the road and find a level spot to park.
After you notice a flat and have gotten your vehicle safely off the road, you should examine your tire. Carefully look and see where the damage is located and determine what the best fix will be. Remember, even a tiny hole can cause a tire to lose air.
A small hole can easily be fixed with a plug and then patched at your local auto shop. Having a plug kit, jack, fix a flat, and a spare tire is always a good idea. Without at least some of these tools, you will have to call for help if you get a flat tire.
Once you get patched up, drive slow and come have your tire examined. We want to make sure your tire is safe to drive on. Here at Tire World Auto Centers we offer quality tire repairs and would be glad to help you get your tire fixed properly. The next time you get a flat, remember all these tips to minimize the damage.
